Mercedes-Benz Details SLS AMG Electric Drive Along With Astronomical Price Tag

This year’s Paris Motor Show is the venue chosen by Mercedes-Benz to show off their production-ready SLS AMG Electric Drive, an all-electric supercar which promises both excellent performance and zero emissions at the same time.

However, nothing good comes cheap these days, and in the cut-throat world of the automotive industry, there sadly is always a catch. In this case, it’s the price.

The all-electric SLS costs as near as makes no difference €416,000 ($536,200). Yes, it costs twice as much as the regular petrol-powered variant. Yet with its four electric motors, 740 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, perhaps it can justify its price tag in terms of performance. It is, after all, the most powerful car ever produced by AMG.

With 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) coming up just a tenth under four seconds and a top speed which is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), it is more than capable to keep up with any supercar on the road (until the speed limit is reached, that is).

Check out a very weird set of pictures, with the production version of the car, wrapped in blue chrome, courtesy of AMS.
