Arguably the most exciting Mercedes-Benz concept car from 2013 was created in just a couple of months for the most famous racing franchise on the Sony PlayStation gaming console, Gran Turismo.
Having been the first ever three-pointed star model designed specifically for a video game, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept also has a real life, 1:1 scale model version, which was presented for the world to see and touch at the 2013 La Auto Show.
The virtual variant of the models makes good use of the M157 engine in E 63 AMG or CLS 63 AMG S-Model tune, meaning that it develops no less than 585 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque.
That is more than enough to offer a virtual performance that should probably make it faster than a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series on the Nurburgring Nordschleife – especially since it also weighs just 1385 kilograms (3053 pounds) - but unfortunately we didn't manage to test that for ourselves because of a lack of skills.
You can find more details about the spectacular concept car from an interview with Hubert Lee, who is a Team Manager at Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design of North America in Carlsbad, California, where the Vision Grand Turismo was designed.
