Yesterday we showed you the first spyshots of what will be the... consumer version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and now we’re back on the topic with good news for special edition aficionados.
Mercedes-Benz dealers are now taking pre-orders for the sharpened-up GT, despite no details of the vehicle being available. In order to go around the information lack issue, dealers allow customers to put down a deposit, which they can take back if they don’t like what they find out when the specs are set to arrive.

Of course, the rumor mill already has a name and an output for the car. No, it won’t be dubbed GT3, since that name belongs to Porsche. Instead, it is said Affalterbach might go for the GT R designation. Do take this with a grain of salt, due to the resemblance to Nissan’s Godzilla.

As for the oomph, you can expect between 530 and 550 horses, which might be extracted from the 4.0-liter V8 using upgraded turbos. Alas, the atmospheric 6.2-liter V8 from the GT3 racecar won’t make it to the road.

Then again, the power jump doesn’t need to be too massive, since we’re not talking about a Black Series here. This will be a model aiming somewhere in between the Porsche 911 GT3 and the GT3 RS and to do that, it will be put on a serious diet that will include carbon fiber.

Customers should receive the actual specs of the car by mid-June, so there will be plenty of time for taking a decision.
