Unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the current Mercedes-Benz CLS C218 has had a much tougher market entrance than its swooping predecessor, with both BMW and Audi launching direct rivals of their own to the gorgeous model.
In order to keep one step ahead of the competition, Mercedes-Benz decided to invent another sub-niche to the niche they had introduced with the unveil of the first generation CLS.

The result is the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake (X218), or how the most stylish station wagon in the world should look like.

Launched just a bit over one year ago, you'd think that it's a bit early for a mid-life facelift, but Mercedes-Benz decided to align its refresh with that of the “regular” CLS, which will receive it most likely in the following months, our bet being the 2014 Geneva Motors Show or sometime near it.

As you can see from the adjacent photos, the exterior modifications will be small but thorough, with minor touches to the headlights, a new A/CLA Sport-style “star grille”, a restyled front bumper and new sets of light-alloy rims.

The interior, on the other hand, will receive a new three-spoke steering wheels that looks almost identical to the one that will be sported by the upcoming S-Class Coupe, while the in-dash screen will finally increase in size and also follow the tablet-like design of the models based on the MFA platform and the upcoming W205 C-Class.
