Starting with September, the Mercedes-Benz CLA is part of the US model lineup of the Stuttgart manufacturer as well, also becoming the cheapest three-pointed star model you can currently buy from an American dealership.

The car has made such a fuss in the US that it has been included in the nominees for the North American Car Of The Year awards (NACOTY) for 2014. Not only that, but today it's been announced that the model also made it on the shortlist.

Currently, the CLA is only offered in its 250 guise with front-wheel drive, which is powered by a turbocharged two-liter four-cylinder that develops 211 hp (208 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque.

In the near future, the all-wheel drive CLA 250 4Matic and CLA 45 AMG will also be available, making for both the cheapest all-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz and the cheapest AMG model in the US lineup.
