With the mission to bring down the average age of Mercedes-Benz customers in the US, which currently sits at about 53 years old, the Stuttgart manufacturer recently started an offensive that so far consists of bringing the CLA in Yankee land.
Starting at just $29,900, the prettiest model in the new MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform is currently the cheapest three-pointed star model available in US showrooms.
Its price isn't the CLA's only quality though, as the new compact four-door coupe brings a ton of other goodies as well.
Currently, the only version available in America is the front-wheel driven CLA 250, which is powered by a turbocharged two-liter engine good for 211 hp (208 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque.
With a naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 6.7 seconds and an EPA rating of 26 mpg city, 38 mpg highway and 30 mpg in combined fuel economy, the “baby CLS” is a rather interesting proposition in a segment in which it currently sits by itself, since it was the car that actually created it.
In order to see how the car stacks up against its currently non-existing competitors, Motor Trend got a Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 for a test drive and came up with a rather well-written review. Our say is that the car will soon be the best-seller in the American-bound Mercedes-Benz lineup and apparently we're not the only ones believing that.
