Released on the North-American continent just a few weeks ago, the Mercedes-Benz CLA has been probably one of the most expected three-pointed star models in recent years.
Arguably the best-looking model based on the Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform, the CLA is also the cheapest four-door Mercedes-Benz that can be bought from a North American showroom.
The Canadians from Motormouth took the two CLA models currently available there to the test and made a rather thorough on-the-road review of both – the CLA 250 base model and the bonkers CLA 45 AMG.
Both sporting four-cylinder turbocharged engines with direct injection, the differences between the two are much bigger than some would expect.
The CLA 250 develops 211 hp (208 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque, while the furious CLA 45 AMG outputs no less than 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque. With each model paired to a seven speed double clutch transmission, the level of performance between the two is rather different, but we'll let you watch the review to see what the Motormouth editors had to say about that.
