Mercedes-Benz has been offering us multiple preview pieces for its Citan urban delivery van, but now the company has went all the way and has offered us the official photos and info for the vehicle.
The Citan, which is based on the Renault Kangoo, is scheduled to make its debut at the 2012 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, which takes place in September. The vehicle’s front fascia borrows a few features from the new A-Class, while the interior uses the Kangoo’s instrument cluster and comes with new styling, albeit just as workhorse-like.
Under the hood, we have thee oil burners, with outputs ranging between 75 and 110 hp, as well as a petrol unit that relies on forced induction to produce 114 hp. The latter will use a BlueEFFICIENCY pack including features like low rolling resistance tires and a start-stop function as a standard feature, while this will be optional for the diesel powerplants. The power will be sent to the front wheels via a five- or a six-speed manual gearbox.
Mercedes offers three body sizes, with the available lengths being: compact - 3.94 m (155.1-inch), Long - 4.32 m (170-inch) and Extra-Long - 4.71 m (185.4-inch).
