Mercedes-Benz today announced an urban delivery van called Citan, with the company bragging that this was specifically developed to cater to the needs of day-to-day operations inside the city borders.
The vehicle will make its first public appearance at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover in September and is scheduled to come to the market this fall. It will be offered as a panel van, a crewbus, and a mixed-use vehicle, being available in multiple lengths and weights.

The Citan will be powered by fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel engine, with the BlueEfficiency package being included in the development and an electric drive version set to arrive later in the van’s life cycle.

“The Citan’s operation, interior, materials, and workmanship are of the same high quality as in other Mercedes-Benz vans. The new urban delivery van can therefore be justly called the “little brother” of the Sprinter and Vito, to which it is in no way inferior. As is the case with every Mercedes-Benz vehicle, safety plays a big role in the new van, all variants of which come with ESP as standard,” a company statement reads.
