As we were reporting in recent months, the relationship between China and the Stuttgart manufacturer has been soaring lately, with even magic mustache man Dieter Zetsche saying that he would welcome a new investor from the Middle Kingdom.
As proof that even the Chinese want to befriend the Germans more, the President and CEO of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Co. (BMBS), Nicholas Speeks, was recently named “CEO of the year” and “person of the year”, respectively.
The awards were given by two Chinese financial and business newspapers called National Business Daily (Meiri jingji xinwen) and China Business News (Di yi caijing).
“I accept these accolades on behalf of my outstanding team. These awards are both a great honour and an incentive to raise our game even further and to continue justifying the trust placed in Mercedes-Benz by our Chinese customers,” said Speeks. “We are all working together day after day to ensure that Mercedes-Benz is successful in China. We are fully focused on our customers' needs. What is good for our customers is also what is good for Mercedes-Benz. This is the only way to sustain the success of our brand in China over time.”
Nicholas Speeks is still in his first year at the helm of BMBS, as the sales company was only established at the end of 2012 and started operations in March this year.
