What exactly is going on with the car manufacturers lately? Have they all suddenly become parents and all they think of is their kids? Should we send a present, then?
First, it was McLaren with its Ride On P1 electric car, and now Mercedes-AMG has caught it as well. The Germans went one step further: they even bothered to release a teaser, fooling a lot of people into thinking they would show a new AMG model in Paris. Most people, though, were wise to the misleading image and spotted the toy car from a mile away.

Mercedes is actually celebrating 20 years since its first ever Bobby-Car was released - a copy of the R 170 SLK model painted yellow. As a tribute to this initial Bobby-Benz, this fifth-generation vehicle is also finished in yellow, but it's a special shade of the color. Called "AMG solarbeam," it's the one used by the Mercedes-AMG GT for its launch nearly two years ago.

And rightly so since Mercedes-AMG's latest sports car was the model chosen for the ride-on toy vehicle, meaning the lucky kids who will get to drive this will gain access to the most exclusive vehicle in the Affalterbach stable. Well, something loosely resembling it, at least.

Despite the tender age of its intended user, the Bobby-AMG GT has very detailed finishes that everybody else can admire. There are two versions, the more basic GT (painted in silver), and the sportier GT S (sporting the solarbeam yellow coating). The two come with different standard features such as the functional headlights, only available without any extra cost on the yellow Bobby-AMG GT S.

Mercedes-Benz isn't the only manufacturer that uses the services of BIG, the company that makes the Bobby-Car. In fact, if you visit the site, you'll notice that both Audi and BMW have dedicated tabs called "Audi Junior" and "BMW Baby Racer." But given a chance to chose, we're pretty sure the yellow Bobby-AMG GT S would win the heart of every toddler with ease.

Editor's note: Those who grew up with the Dallas soap opera, whenever they hear the words "Bobby" and "Mercedes-Benz" in the same sentence will immediately think of the red SL the character that went by that name used to drive in the show.
