Even though it was initially expected to be unveiled at the 2014 edition of the Geneva Motor Show, the station wagon version of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has continuously refused to appear from behind the curtains, despite the fact that a non-camouflaged model was spotted last Fall.
With that being said, a number of recent insider reports bring news about the official launch of the C-Class T-Modell (S205), which is said to happen later this month, at the 2014 edition of the AMI International Motor Show in Leipzig.
Apart from being a rather small auto show compared with the usual suspects, the venue in Leipzig is also known as being close to secondary factories from two Mercedes-Benz competitors - BMW and Porsche – which may or may not have influenced Daimler's decision to unveil the car there.
Porsche manufactures the Macan, Cayenne and the Panamera in Leipzig, while BMW builds the 1 Series, 2 Series Coupe, X1, i3 and i8, neither of which is in essence a direct competitor for the upcoming C-Class Wagon (S205).
Featuring the exact same engine lineup as the sedan version, the C-Class Wagon (T-Modell or Estate, depending on country) will be available with everything from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder to a twin-turbocharged four-liter V8 in the C 63 AMG variant.
Compared with the sedan though, the station wagon is said to feature a self-leveling rear suspension in standard, with the newly-introduced Airmatic suspension to be offered as an option. Expect more details about the model as we are nearing its launch date.
