Ever wondered what a Mercedes-Benz CLC would look like? What do you mean “what is a Mercedes-Benz CLC”? It’s a four-door coupe based on the C-Class that sits tightly between the CLA and CLS expanding the concept first launched by Mercedes-Benz with the original CLS.
You’d be excused to think this is a little uncalled for since the C-Class looks as good as it does and the C-Class Coupe should prove practical enough for those who value aesthetics above anything else, but the current market will disagree. Just look at the C-Class’ rivals: on the one hand you’ve got the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, and on the other the Audi A5 Sportback who both fill the same niche, more or less.

If it wants to stay competitive, Mercedes-Benz has got to cover all possible segments, no matter how weak sales might be. Recently it announced dropping the CLS Shooting Brake due to poor selling numbers, but one must also take into account that none of the rivals is offering anything similar, so there was no image blow related to that decision.

The mid-sized four-door coupe, on the other hand, is a completely different fish. What’s more, you’d have to assume that making the conversion by either adding two doors to the already existing coupe or dropping the roofline of the C-Class sedan shouldn’t prove to be such a difficult task, so it would be a shame not to. Especially when the end product might look as good as these renders made by world-wide-web-renowned artist Theophilus Chin.

Should it see the light of day, we see no reason why the four-door C-Class - which, by all intents and purposes, would have to be called Mercedes-Benz CLC - would look anything different to this rendering, sporting the same design at both ends as the Coupe version with the only differences showing in the side-view behind the B-pillars.
