Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Becomes Shooting Brake in Rendering, Production Unlikely

All it took for these speculations to start jumping at us from every corner was the launch of the new C-Class Coupe, it seems. Since the two-door version of the mid-sized sedan came to be, we've been treated to a four-door coupe version, a cabrio and now this Shooting Brake that will (unfortunately or not) most likely never leave the drawing boards.

Why are we saying that? Well, first of all, you have to look at what happened to the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, which just got scrapped this year due to poor sales figures. "Yeah," you'll say, "but why don't you look at the CLA Shooting Brake as well? That thing is flying off the dealers' shelves faster than paper sheets on a windy day."

While that may be true, it's worth considering the compact Mercedes-Benz segment has no other estate model, so people might actually be buying the CLA Shooting Brake out of practical reasons and for its emotional appeal. That wouldn't be the case with the C-Class, which has a perfectly functional T-Modell that also happens to be quite easy on the eye.

Second (it might be fourth or fifth, I lost count a long time ago), if you look at X-Tomi Design's rendering, you'll notice something is off about it. It seems our artist friend was more preoccupied with creating a true shooting brake than sticking with the Mercedes-Benz recipe which have perverted the notion by adding an extra pair of doors.

But that's only a slight problem for this rendering. The real issue is that up until now, no official rumor regarding a possible C-Class Shooting Brake has emerged, so this is a speculation in its purest form. Whether Mercedes-Benz will see fit to launch such a model remains to be seen, but personally, I highly doubt it.
