The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been screaming for a coupe version ever since its launch early last year. The new design lines borrowed by the mid-sized sedan from its bigger brother, the S-Class, were asking for a slightly more aggressive look.
And then the S-Class Coupe came along, and we all got to see just how well the coupe shape went with this new Mercedes-Benz design. From that moment on, the C-Class Coupe could not have come any sooner.

And here it is now, on the floor of the Frankfurt Motor Show in both its natural state and the AMG-tuned sportier guise looking just as good as anyone expected it to.

As an extra bonus, Mercedes-AMG brought to Frankfurt a special version called the C63 Coupe Edition 1. This particular model was launched together with the new DTM race car that will be the vehicle of choice for Mercedes-Benz's racing division starting next season. The chosen moment was not just a happy coincidence since the two share some stylistic cues such as the color scheme that combines a matte dark gray with bright yellow accents and racing stripes.

And since we're on the subject of the DTM car, that too is present in Frankfurt ready to impress everyone that comes across it with its low silhouette and aggressive aerodynamic elements.

Back to the road going models

The C-Class Coupe brings very few changes compared to its saloon counterpart if we're to ignore the visuals. The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, on the other hand, sets itself apart from the regular Coupe with wider tracks and bigger wheels, flared arches and gaping air intakes on the front bumper.

The Affalterbach model also gets the new 4.0-liter V8 engine developing 476hp in the standard version and 510hp in the C63 S Coupe. To keep all that power in check come the RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the set-up of the DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs, the rear-axle differential lock and the dynamic engine mounts.

But the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, as the name implies, is a coupe, so that means that what matters most is its looks. It's safe to say the new model has got that part covered, so unless people develop a sudden case or repulsion towards beautiful cars, we can't see why the new C-Class Coupe and C63 Coupe won't be huge commercial successes.
