After a rather unprofessional comparison between the all-new BMW M4 F82 and the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 was made by Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe at the M3/M4 press launch, it is now time to check out yet another round between the soon-to-be arch enemies.
This time, we are only talking about a speedometer acceleration battle between the two rivals, with the exception that the C 63 AMG Coupe isn't an Edition 507 anymore and as far as we know it might not even have the Performance Package.

In other words, the comparison should be even more unfair for the AMG model, as it is a car that is both on its last production leg and quite a bit more low-tech than the gadgety BMW.

Despite the fact that the official power and torque figures clearly favor the C 63 AMG Coupe, even without sporting the Performance Package or being the Edition 507 variant, the new BMW M4 F82 has a lower weight, a faster dual clutch gearbox and meatier tires.

The legendary M156 naturally-aspirated V8 under the AMG's hood is good in base form for 457 hp and 600 Nm (443 lb ft) of torque, while the BMW has to make ends meet with a twin-turbocharged three-liter inline six powerplant, which delivers 431 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb ft) of torque.

As we said, even though the difference in power is in the AMG's favor, the new BMW M4's official acceleration numbers with the dual clutch transmission are 4.1 seconds from naught 100 km/h (62 mph), while a standard C 63 AMG Coupe should do the same thing in 4.4 seconds.

In the real world, if we are to use the following speedometer video as a benchmark, the AMG seems to be neck and neck with its Bavarian rival until about 200 km/h (124 mph), despite what official numbers actually say. With that being said, keep in mind that there is not information about where the acceleration footage were taken and how were the conditions.

Even so, if the AMG might lose in other circumstances, at least it will do it while sounding like it's going to murder you instead of trying to imitate the engine noise from Gran Turismo 6.
