The Edition 507 version of the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG W204 is pretty much a “go out with a bang” farewell story to both the epic M156 engine and the “axe murderer” variant of the C-Class W204.
Sharing parts with both the bonkers C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series and the SLS AMG, the engine from the Edition 507 develops a not-exactly-unexpected 507 hp and 610 Nm (450 lb ft) of torque, more than enough to both light the rear tires from a stop.
The folks from MotorTrend pitted a C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 against the Audi RS5 – not exactly its closest competitor – and drove each cars both on the road and on the track with the help of professional race car driver Randy Pabst.
With 57 hp and almost 50 percent less torque, the Audi is way less powerful than the AMG model, but the all-wheel drive system sort of evens the things out on the track, where it manages to be slightly faster.
Still, considering that the steering, the comfort, the power and off-track performance figures are much better in the C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 than in the RS5, you can pretty much guess that it won the two-way comparison in the end.
