Mercedes-Benz Baby SLS to Arrive in a Couple of Years

The upcoming long-hooded sports car from AMG, developed under the codename C190, is set to arrive in 2015, according to speculations by the Brits at AutoExpress.

Destined to most likely steal sales from the Porsche 911 Carrera S, Jaguar F-Type V8S and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, the baby-SLS will sport a four-liter twin turbo V8 mill.

The engine is currently developed by AMG to be used on the C63 AMG replacement and other future AMGs as well.

With direct injection and delivering around 480 horsepower in its base spec, the V8 will have 500 hp+ versions as well, since the future sports model will also benefit from a Black Series version.

The most mysterious detail about the car so far is, believe it or not, its name. Most sources have speculated on the return of the SLC moniker, but that is highly doubtful since the original SLC was technically a coupe for the S-Class, not a full-blown sports car.

Other publications state that the SLR name might make a comeback, but that is also arguable, since the baby SLS will apparently be slotted in the 80,000-120,000 Euros range, unlike the five-times more expensive SLR McLaren. If we were to bet on one, we'd say that the never-used SLE stands a pretty good chance as well.
