A few weeks ago, Daimler's Research and Development Chief Thomas Webber said that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive will have nothing to fear comparing with the recently-launched BMW i3.
Powered by a 177 hp electric engine supplied by the nice chaps at Tesla, the B-Class Electric Drive can allegedly drive for 200 km (115 miles in US driving conditions) before having the need for a recharge.
Not only that, but it can also hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.9 seconds and go on to an electronically-controlled top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph).
These are preliminary specs, for the time being, but the B-Class Electric Drive is pretty much set to offer a much better alternative to the BMW i3 in the premium compact electric cars segment.
The New York Daily News was invited by Mercedes-Benz to Germany to experience a first look at the car and their impressions are a bit ignorant sounding, putting more weight in the general vibe that a non-automotive publication isn't exactly the best place to learn about cars.
