The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is the first production electric car from the three-pointed star and it's apparently something to really expect when it hits the showroom in 2014.
Built with mechanicals sourced from Tesla Motors, the B-Class Electric Drive will represent two US premieres next year – the first electric Mercedes-Benz and the first time that Yanks can get a taste of the B-Class, otherwise available almost everywhere else, including Canada.
The car comes with a 177 hp and 340 Nm (251 lb ft) of torque electric motor that gets its juice from a lithium-ion battery, which can give it a range of around 200 km (124 miles) in Europe and about 115 miles in its US-spec guise.
There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming model in recent months, though what is probably the most important question – its starting price – hasn't yet been answered.
During the LA Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz invited a range of journalists to drive two pre-production prototypes of the B-Class Electric Drive and write their opinions about it. Earlier we told you about AutoBlog's review and now it's time to see CNET's opinion about the upcoming model.
