This is what happens once you give a family hatchback a lowered suspension, huge wheels and a body kit. You get the luxury hyperhatch that is the A45 AMG, a car that is yet to be revealed but has been rendered by French site Virtuel-Car.
As you’ll know already, this car gives us mixed feelings, since you really can’t but a Mercedes car without all the toys, which will make this a €50,000 A-Class once you’ve added designo leather and a sound system.
But there can be no denying that Mercedes AMG has gone out of its way to build this car. It’s got AWD, not RWD. The engine has four cylinders, not eight or twelve. And it’s supposed to be economical as well as fast.
Power will come from a 2.0-liter AMG-tuned engine developing somewhere along the lines of 340 horsepower and maximum torque significantly above 400 Nm (295 lb-ft)". This will be mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
