The current Head of the Compact Cars Product Group at Mercedes-Benz, Jörg Prigl, has been selected as “Eurostar 2013” in the “Product Development” category of the 16th Eurostar Awards, created and hosted by Automotive News Europe.
Prigl is at Daimler since 1981 and has held a number of key positions in the company since then, among them being the Strategic Project Manager for the first-generation Mercedes-Benz SLK (R170) roadster, between 1994 and 1997.

Exactly ten years ago, he took over the product group for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and over the years has become responsible for the design and implementation of the entire new Mercedes-Benz Compact Car Generation, which pretty much makes him indirectly responsible for the (major) success of the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and most likely the upcoming GLA compact crossover/SUV, which seems to had been received well.

The award ceremony for the most outstanding executives in the automotive industry will be held in Frankfurt right before this year's Frankfurt Auto Show, on 9 September.
