Mercedes and Rotwild Unveil New MTB Inspired by AMG GT

After successfully collaborating two years ago to create a full-suspension carbon-fiber mountain bike, Mercedes-AMG and Rotwild have once again partnered up. This time, they were inspired by the new Mercedes-AMG GT, as the MTB bicycle combines the very best of racing technology on four and two wheels: dynamism, lightweight construction, design, and comfort.

Limited to only 100 units and specially designed for sporting competitions, the Rotwild GT S was inspired by AMG's new sportscar. It was developed for the toughest off-road conditions on the basis of professional feedback from the top athletes in the AMG Rotwild MTB racing team.

They say everything mixes up these days, domains merge as one. And that is definitely happening in the transportation industry. So here we are, writing about bicycles, boats, pencils and any possible accessory you can think of, since automakers will most likely make theirs too.

Volvo, the company that is constantly looking to improve the field of car and traffic safety, has just released a glow-in-the-dark spray called LifePaint. Is it for cars? No, for bicycles. Audi has also released a racing two-wheeler the other week.

We could go on with this list for some time, but we’re here to meet AMG’s mountain bike so let us stick with that for now. Priced at a little under 10,000 euros the bicycle is not for a daily commute or for people who like to take a stroll every weekend. It combines ultra high-performance materials with highly sophisticated suspension technology and a unique design idiom.

According to Mercedes, the frame was systematically designed with light weight and suspension comfort in mind. High-tech such as Carbon Module Monocoque Technology (MMT2) and EPS Innermold Technology was used, thus optimizing the performance and attributes of the high-modulus carbon fiber. Built with the same properties the Formula 33 Factory front fork also combines light weight with high rigidity.

The effect was completed by 29-inch carbon-fiber wheels whose unique design keeps the rotating masses as low as possible. The point is to center the masses around the wheel hub, thus allowing fast acceleration and breaking.

Before you take a closer look at further details listed in the press kit below, let us just talk a little about the design. Inspired by the AMG GT, the racing MTB’s paintwork comes with the same contrasting solar beam and carbon black as the high-performance sportscars.

The Rotwild GT S inspired by AMG will enter the market together with an attractive, high-quality equipment package in May, so you’d better start saving.
