Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet Edition 130 Sexifies the 2016 Detroit Auto Show

In 1886, Carl Benz applied to the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin for a discovery that would change the world: “a motorized vehicle powered by a gas engine.” 130 years later, Mercedes-AMG celebrates this event with the special edition Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet “Edition 130,” which has been launched today at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

The limited edition stands out with its unique “alubeam silver” paint finish, Bordeaux red fabric top and matte black 20-inch 10-spoke wheels.

According to Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, “The first automobiles from Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler were open vehicles. Mercedes-AMG honors this achievement of the founding fathers with this highly exclusive cabriolet, and demonstrates the developments the automobile has undergone in the last 130 years, developments that would have been inconceivable at that time.

The interior features exclusive designo Nappa leather upholstery in Bengal red-black or, optionally, crystal grey-black and trim elements in AMG carbon or piano lacquer black. A badge located on the middle console and an engraving on the steering wheel bezel remind the driver that there are only 130 Anniversary S63 built. The red brake calipers and floor mats with Bengal red or crystal gray edging complete the visual impression.

The German company knows how to make a customer feel special offering a tailor-made AMG Indoor Car Cover with the embroidered lettering “Edition 130 - 1 of 130” to protect this amazing car from dust in the garage.

Aside from these incredible details, the Cabriolet comes with the a 5.5-liter V8-biturbo engine, capable of 585 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of maximum torque and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive.

It can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). Although it has a bad-ass engine under the hood, according to the German carmaker, the car has a combined fuel consumption of just 10.4l/100km (22.6 mph), but good luck achieving those numbers on a daily basis.

The Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet “Edition 130” will be available for purchase starting April 2016 and in Germany it will cost €226,457 (approx. $245,128).
