Knowing how interested we are in the only car brave enough to take on the Porsche 911, the guy at Top Speed tipped us off about a rendering they did concerning the car previously rumored to be called the SLC.
Although it's too early to give the 2015 or later sportscar a name, it's not to early to look at the design. Based on the recent spyshots, Top Speed rendered the new sportscar in all its glory. We think they are definitely getting close to the real thing. The SLC looks like something a hotrod fan made. It's got a long hood and strong proportion. The similarities to a Corvette or a Viper are obvious, just like they were with the SLS.

Back when they were developing it, the German engineers went as far as to stick Viper panels on the SLS, leading to false speculation that it was actually based on a defunct project from the Americans.

Beyond the styling, we can tell you one other very important fact about the SLC. It will be powered by a new AMG engine which will displace 4 liters. It will first go into production first in the new C63 AMG, producing 465 hp, although the new sportscar will have a 585 hp version of that same engine.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
