Renntech, a specialized Mercedes-Benz tuner from the United States of America, has revealed a new package for the S 63 in Coupe guise.
We are writing about an evolution (pun intended) of a previous package developed for the second-most powerful version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe in AMG tune.
Instead of the 585 HP generated at the crank by the twin-turbo 5.4-liter V8 engine of the S 63 Coupe, the enhanced version from Renntech brings 708 HP and 1137 Nm (839 lb-ft). The figures mentioned are at the crank, and are estimated after a dyno run.
The same test shows that Renntech’s kit for this model provides 588 HP at the wheel, along with a peak torque of 697 lb-ft (945 Nm).
The difference in figures comes from an estimated drivetrain loss of 17%, a decent value for an all-wheel-drive model like the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe 4Matic.
To achieve the enhanced figures, the specialists at Renntech fitted a set of downpipes with 200-cell catalytic converters, a set of sport mufflers with electronic valves, and an ECU upgrade so the engine could fully benefit from the changes.
The stock version of the car featured a maximum output of 445 HP at the wheels, while peak torque was recorded at 489 lb-ft (662 Nm). By comparing the values mentioned above, you can observe the enhancements brought by the tuning package developed by Renntech. The particular example that is shown in the photo gallery of this article also feature a prototype trunk spoiler, and is painted matte black.
The tuners at Renntech also provide several options for turbo upgrades for the M157 engine of the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe 4Matic. The stage II turbo upgrade package costs a whopping $20,640.
Close to this value is the optional Akrapovic Evolution Line exhaust system, which is made out of Titanium and has a sales price of $16,295. Those interested in such modifications should consider a transmission upgrade, which costs $3,690 without tax.
