Mercedes-AMG Petronas Explain F1 DRS Aerodynamics

Introduced back in 2011, Formula 1's Drag Reduction System (DRS) has become one of the most talked-about features on modern F1 cars.
Along with other drastic changes to the official ruling, DRS can mean the difference between winning and losing a high speed battle and is probably the main reason for the huge increase in overtaking in the last three years.

Despite the controversy surrounding the system, with some voices saying that it has made overtaking way too easy – especially with current rulings – there's no doubt that it's a very interesting part of Formula 1.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team made a short video to show everyone how the system works, using the next best thing: paper planes.

You can have a look at Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton staging a friendly but a bit unfunny race between their paper planes, after which Bob Bell explains how DRS works and the ways in which it helps the drivers get the most out of their cars.
