Look what we found hiding between the cacti in the middle of the desert: the hot new sportscar from Mercedes-AMG. And it appears that it's eaten something it shouldn't, because the wheels have turned bright red.
We're only kidding, since what this photo gallery is about is a silver arrow that's been fitted with Forgiato's Kato-1-ELC wheels painted in candy apple red. These bad boys are available in sizes from 20 to 24 inches, which is good, considering the AMG GT needed staggered alloys. Oh, and in case you didn't know, that means that the wheels on the back of the vehicle are a different size than those on the front.
The AMG GT S is one of the most important debuts of 2015. We're sure you guys have heard something about it already, but in case you didn't, we'll give you a quick roundup of the numbers.
The GT S has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 510 horsepower, which it sends to a 7-speed transaxle twin-clutch gearbox. Later on, Mercedes will also introduce a cheaper, less powerful version.
The GT S is the successor of the SLS, and even though it's cheaper by a third, it's actually faster and more dynamic because of the lightweight aluminum chassis. The interior is rather special, but some people have complained that it lacks the gullwing doors and crazy design of its predecessor. For $150,000, we don't think we're allowed to complain. Taking a page out of the Porsche 911 handbook, this coupe has adaptive everything: suspension, engine mounts, sports exhaust and driving modes. The GT S also comes standard with an electronically controlled LSD to help those lovely red wheels find grip.
