Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) to be More Hardcore Than SLS AMG

When the decision to end the SLS AMG's life was taken, the suits from Affalterbach and Stuttgart knew that its replacement will have some pretty big shoes to fill.

This is probably the main reason for the modern Gullwing not actually getting a replacement for at least three more years, and the C190 project being an entirely different car.

Sure, the AMG GT (C190) will be based on an aluminium space frame derived from that of the SLS AMG (C197), but the model will be marketed entirely different.

Until now, we only knew that it will be a bit cheaper in order to steal some slices from the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar F-Type pie.

Apparently, the Mercedes-AMG GT will be quite a bit sportier and less grand tourer than the SLS AMG, if we are to believe ex-AMG boss Ola Källenius.

The Mercedes-Benz executive was quoted by Car and Driver as saying that if SL is somewhat of a “sport luxury” vehicle, the new GT AMG will be nothing short of “pure sport.”
