Technically speaking, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe is the least novel version of the GLE with a chopped roof. However, it's the one we love the most. It would be cool to see a drag race between it and the BMW X6 M, but until that happens we can at least enjoy the soundtracks.
Today, our hero is the S version, equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 BiTurbo making 585 hp and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque. It's a rare breed of AMG, equipped as standard with the new Performance Exhaust. It pops and crackles on the downshifts, so without knowing what car this is, you'd think that you're listening to the Jaguar F-Type R.
We're not going to tell you which performance Sports Activity Coupe we prefer, the X6 M or this, but the soundtrack is definitely superior to the Range Rover Sport HSE.
The second video we are sharing with you guys is of the same model being pushed to its limit on German autobahn. Keep in mind that while the interior is dressed in carbon fiber, this is still a truck that weighs over 2.3 tons when empty and can keep up with a 911 Carrera S on the straights.
The more expensive GLE model starts at €125,500 in Germany, about the same as the AMG GT S. Besides the thumping-great V8 engine, you also get an impressive collection of skirts, spoilers and air intakes. From the front, the Mercedes grille is imposingly flanked by LED headlights, while the back looks discrete, thanks to S-Class Coupe taillights.
