Much to nobody's surprise, Mercedes has hit a sweet spot with the all-new G-Class (the thing has been in production for three years now, but I still can't get over the "new" part, especially since the civilian version of the original had relied on the same basic formula since 1979. But there's a problem with the leaner newcomer: it's not ridiculous enough. Well, the rendering sitting before us comes to address that matter.
No, really, the Gelandewagen's recipe has always involved a well calculated dose of ludicrousness. And if that sounds untrue, you don't even have to look too far into the pedigree of the G Wagen, the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet that came around in 2017 is all the example you need.

Sure, the second iteration of the G-Class once again allows buyers to dip their toes into a throttle pedal connected to an Affalterbach motor, with the mix involving the 585 hp of the G 63 and the still-boxy styling being a delight.

However, we still have some serious waiting to do before absurdly cool editions such as the said Landaulet show up, while the ever-stricter emission legislation means the now-departed G 65, which wielded a V12, might not come back.

And this is where the pixel portrait sitting on our screens comes into play.

As mentioned, we already know that the engine compartment of the G Wagen doesn't need to gain extra length in order to accommodate a V12, at least in the case of the old model. But this rendering gives the SUV the said treatment anyway.

Heck, there's enough real estate under the hood to hold two engines, while we're talking shenanigans. Now, since digital label Sugarchow came up with this Pinocchio incarnation of the Mercedes-AMG G 63, the spare wheel has migrated from the posterior of the vehicle to the side of engine compartment.

And if that doesn't add a touch of elegance from where you're standing, we might have different definitions for placing "ridiculous" and "cool" into the same sentence.
