Mercedes AMG DTM Team on its Way to Moscow with Six New Actros

For the first time in the competition's history, the German Touring Car Championship (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, aka the more easy to pronounce DTM) will have a race in the capital of Russia, from 3-4 August 2013.

The Moscow Raceway was designed by who else than the man who seems to have put a monopoly on new racing circuit builds, Hermann Tilke, and is located almost 80 kilometers (50 miles) northwest of Moscow.

Since from HWA's (the official Mercedes AMG DTM team) headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany, to the Moscow Raceway there are over 2600 kilometers (1615 miles), a generous amount of logistics is involved.

These logistics include a total of six new Mercedes-Benz Actros, which will carry the racing cars, spare parts and all the components required by the race team through Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. We're well aware about the similarities between this journey and an... older one, which more or less followed the same coordinates, but let's not go there.

Since the trip will take approximately four days, it's rather important that the trucks used will offer the best conditions:

“The Mercedes-Benz Actros proves its worth over and over again. It is just the right truck for motor sport transport tasks, where both safety - on account of the valuable cargo - and tight schedules play a particularly important role.” said Charl Lohrmann, one of the truck drivers for the Mercedes AMG DTM team.
