We waited for it, you waited for it and now Mercedes-AMG showed some sympathy coupled with marketing awareness and gave us the first official photo of the upcoming AMG GT3 race car.
The AMG GT3 will debut in less than two weeks at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show but since teasing models prior to their launch date is a popular habit in the automotive industry right now, Mercedes-AMG released an imagine of the SLS AMG GT3’s successor.

And yeah, it looks like a mean racing machine, at least seen from the front. While you can obviously spot some of AMG GT’s DNA in the racing car’s overall look, it is clear as a whistle that the AMG GT3 is way more “in your face” than the model it replaces. In fact, the race car does have a sinister look about it, if you examine it closer.

It also looks like Atlas, glued to the ground while holding the Earth on his shoulders and we’re willing to bet that such a low stance previews some serious downforce at high speeds, courtesy of that massive wing dominating the AMG GT3’s rear end.

Other than that, Mercedes-AMG’s aerodynamic treatment is easy to spot by looking at the front splitter, winglets and air outlets sculpted in the fenders, right above the wheels.

What we do hate about this picture is that it is not followed by technical details. In this case, we can only assume that this race track monster will use the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the standard AMG GT, but in a more race-oriented setup.

After 2015  Geneva debut, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will make its racing debut in 2016, during the FIA GT3 Championship.
