Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Facelift Gets a Teaser Video, Will Show New Aero Soon

Mercedes has just hinted new versions of the CLA 45 AMG will debut tomorrow by releasing this teaser video. Both the sedan and the Shooting Brake will be updated with improved aerodynamics and exclusive style, but not more power.

The CLA and GLA got the new 381 PS version of the 2.0-liter turbo engine right after the A-Class did. So there are no powertrain shenanigans going on. These updates also include the availability of adaptive suspension and a limited slip differential for the front axle of the car. To make these tiny performance cars even more vicious, engineers also tweaked the steering, the gearing and the way in which the AWD system responds.

But the true story here is the styling. This launch is directly related to a mid-life facelift that will probably be revealed at the upcoming New York Auto Show. Just like the A45, these slightly bigger models will feature a revised grille and a front fascia that resembles the C63.

Even in this teaser, we can see that a chrome splitter now defines the car at the front, together with revised headlights. What's interesting is that the winglets of the old Edition 1 package are making a comeback.

As for the "exclusive style," it's hard to know what Mercedes is talking about. But we can see push-button start is finally installed. Ambient lighting and a "black chrome" pack are among the revisions we expect.

The CLA 45 AMG has been with us since 2014, and let us tell you it's a crazy contraption. It might not handle like a traditional AMG model, but if you play with the launch control, you may be surprised by what this thing can do. The upcoming 2017 model year will serve it a nasty surprise, as Audi plans to launch the RS3 sedan in America. It's got a bigger engine and will deliver up to 400 horsepower. That should be in an interesting drag race!
