Mercedes A45 AMG Not Coming to US

The AMG performance division is turning 45 this year and to celebrate, their innovative new car will be called the A45 AMG. This exciting new model is the only non-SUV hot model they make with all-wheel drive and it will be powered not by some retuned V6, but by a racy 2.0-liter turbo engine that will “set new standards in its displacement class: with maximum torque significantly above 400 Nm and low consumption levels.”

Exciting right? Well not for American, at least that’s the the current decision for Mercedes AMG, according to a report from Inside Line. This is because hatchback models have always been unpopular with Americans.

Still, all is not lost, since the CLA four-door coupe based on the same platform as this car will also likely have an AMG version. We have to admit that this car, a new entry-level performance sedan, would be far more appealing there.
