Mega Affordable RV “Sundance Ultra-Lite" Easily Dominates the Competition

The end to all this sitting around the house is hopefully near. When that happens, what are you going to be doing? Personally, I think I'm going to get myself one of these towable RVs.

What you’re looking at in the cover photo is known as the Sundance Ultra-Lite. It’s a towable RV from none other than Heartland RVs. You may have seen their work featured on our site before and can be sure to see more as this team manufactures some pretty amazing trinkets. Oh, and the best part of all, it comes across as one of the most affordable towables I've discovered thus far. Don’t believe me? The least expensive layout offered comes in with an MSRP of only $31,268 (€25,731).

Now, this RV trailer comes with 15 available floorplans to choose from, so for the sake of argument and discussion, we’re just going to be focusing on the model shown in the video below, the 231ML. So what exactly can we find in this jumbled mess of numbers and letters? Well, nothing more than all you need to make the open road a part of your lifestyle. Just so we’re on the same page, this floorplan starts off with an MSRP of $34,724 (€28,575).

First things first. Being a towable, one of the most important features is the ability to be lightweight while offering the necessary level of insulation to keep everyone comfortable. To achieve a lightweight construction while keeping everyone toasty, the Sundance is completed with Azdel laminated sidewalls with a non-wood substrate. A sound barrier and better insulation have also been added. After all, being a home, you don’t want to hear everything going on outside.

With this sort of construction, the Sundance achieves a dry weight of 5,090 lbs (2,308 kg), a GVWR of 7,532 lbs (3,416 kg), and enough room for everything you need. Best of all, it can accommodate up to six people. Ok, enough with the specs, what about the tools?

What about them? It’s not like something that you would normally find in your own home is missing, except for maybe the pool table. But if you’re that crazy about playing pool, you can probably fit a table in the Sundance.

As we step inside, the first object we see is the bedding to the right. Here, we are offered a queen-size mattress equipped with two nightstands and an over-head compartment for more goods. To keep this space feeling private, it’s separated from the rest of the RV with a curtain. Straight ahead is a couch that looks like it can extend, and immediately to the left, we have the dining room. I wonder if the table can be lowered or removed to achieve another sleeping area. Click the link at the bottom to find out on your own.

The rest of the RV is reserved for appliances such as a full-size fridge and freezer, a stovetop with three burners, and a traditional oven. Imagine what it’s like to throw some freshly caught game or fish in an oven while watching the sunset over the West Coast. Or just cook your meal outside with an option for an exterior kitchenette.

At the tail of the RV, we’ll find a sink and countertop, but also the bathroom. Here we find access to a standing shower booth with a skylight overhead, a toilet, and even room for a washbasin and faucet. Oh, and there’s also plenty of storage space in here as well.

What I liked most about the 231ML's layout is that it’s all well thought out. All your plumbing needs are found at the rear, while living spaces are housed at the front of the towable. But this isn’t everything this wonderful RV can do. If you want to find out more, click here, as that’s all the time we have for this crisp and clean mobile home.
