Not all of us are great at swimming, nor at cycling, but most of us enjoy both. What if we’d tell you there is a device that could offer the thrill of cycling on the open water? Mill Valley, California-based Schiller Bikes has recently unveiled their latest water bike, the X1, they claim is the world’s most innovative water bike ever created.
The X1 is designed to deliver a fast, exhilarating and safe ride. Clean, sustainable and human powered, it features a multi-speed drive train, twi-propeller design and rugged, dual chamber pontoons that all together make this water toy a thing you want to have with you on your weekend brakes. According to its creators, the bike was conceived to harness the maximum amount of human energy into speed on the water, using a multi-speed, pure rotary drive train with Gates Carbon Drive Belts.

As to steering, it’s done through twin oscillating propellers mounted on specially designed reaction arms. Controlled at the handlebars, riders can easily turn in tight spaces without the need for a rudder. Moreover, a range of premium bicycle components are incorporated including saddles, adjustable stems, handlebars, cranks, pedals and a 30.9mm (1.18 inches) dropper seat post to help ensure a comfortable fit for all riders.

Schiller Bikes is a young company founded by Judah Schiller, the first person in history to bike across the San Francisco Bay and Hudson River. A water sports enthusiast, Judah claims he launched his company to design and manufacture the most advanced water bike ever created, giving people an entirely new way to enjoy oceans, seas, lakes, canals and rivers around the globe.

In case we managed to make you a little curious, you could always check out the video below or their website for more details. As to the price, well you’ll need $6,495 for one bicycle, so you better start saving.
