Everybody is gearing up for the Frankfurt Motor Show waiting to open its gates this month, so it was only natural for SsangYong to find a way to attend the party.
They found it with an interesting-looking concept - at least in the virtual design sketches they have provided us with - that will spawn a long-wheelbase Tivoli.

But there's more in SsangYong's luggage for Frankfurt. The carmakers will also introduce the XAV-Adventure prototype. We've seen it before - earlier this year, at the Seul Motor Show - and from where we're standing, it looks identical despite the added Adventure badge.

According to SsangYong, the XAV-Adventure is "a reinterpretation of the company’s iconic Korando brand with a modern and masculine touch."

Now, coming back to the elongated Tivoli, we expect the production version to make its debut in Geneva, just like the normal-sized Tivoli did in March 2015. As you can imagine, an increased wheelbase will translate into more space for the crossover's occupants, in particular for those sitting in the backseat.

Engine-wise, the long-wheelbase Tivoli should draw its strength from the same 1.6-liter petrol or 1.6-liter diesel engine. Moreover, clients will have the option of choosing between both manual and automatic gearboxes, just like for the ongoing Tivoli, and two or four wheel drive.

SsangYong Tivoli Diesel

Besides the two concepts we were talking about above, SsangYong will also present the Tivoli Diesel, developed to offer "a powerful yet eco-friendly and quiet driving performance".

The model uses a 1.6-liter Euro 6 diesel engine capable of delivering 115 horsepower in the 3,400-4,000 rpm interval and 300 Nm available from as low as 1,500 rpm.

We'll get back on that once we get to drive the model, but until that happens, we'll see the two prototypes and the Tivoli diesel in the metal next month, so count on us to provide fresh info on them.
