Mercedes Benz designers have prepared something very interesting for the 2012 LA Auto Show Design Challenge. It’s called the Ener-G-Force, and it’s a design study for what the G-Class could look like in 2025.
The focus was placed firmly on safety, with the small windows being designed to “make the police vehicle a safe cocoon”.
As a civilian SUV, the Ener-G-Force comes with curvier lines, rearview cameras. It runs on a hydrogen fuel cell, which uses water collected by the roof-mounted tanks.
“The Ener-G-Force is the vision of an off-roader that, while reflecting tomorrow’s adventures, also invokes the genes of the Mercedes-Benz off-road icon, the G model. Modern and cool, it could also be a clue about a new beginning for the off-road design idiom of Mercedes-Benz,” said Gorden Wagener, Director of Design at Mercedes-Benz Cars.
