Hearses we’re never intended to be fast, but just practical vehicles that basically carry dead people around. But that didn’t stop Australia’s Greentree Family Racing to develop and insanely fast pro mod dragster that can run a quarter mile in 6.89 seconds.
The vehicle in question, raced under the “Outlaw Undertaker” name, is based on a Holden VN Commodore Hearse that used to do a lot of funeral duty back in its day. Now it has a 500 cubic inch (8.2-liter) TFX billet engine, an enormous supercharger, a 10.5-inch Crowerglide clutch, and a three-speed Lenco transmission.
The results are amazing as you’ll see below, with the hearse taking only 6.89 seconds to get at the end of the quarter mile strip at 201 miles per hour (323 km/h). And check out the Rest In Piece writing on the bird catcher!
