Meet Deadmau5’ McLaren P1: Will He Take It to Gumball 3000?

BAC Mono one-seater? Checked. Customized Jeep Wrangler? Checked. Porsche 911 Carrera S? Checked. And we could go on like this for another two or three rounds, but you get the picture. Yep, the world’s million dollar hybrid hypercar is now part of that collection and Deadmau5 has no problem bragging about it. The only thing we’re curious is whether or not he’s about to take it to this year’s Gumball 3000.

He might not have been there to take delivery when McLaren brought him the P1, but Deadmau5 sure has a lot of love for this one. In fact, we're pretty sure there's going to be some serious racing this summer involving it.

Judging by his posts on Twitter it appears Zimmerman likes the hypercar’s green side, and when he says that, Joel obviously talks about the in-house developed electric motor producing 176 bhp (131 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque. Working along that beautiful 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, the P1 has a total power and torque output of 903 bhp and 722 lb-ft (978 Nm) respectively. Yes, it's a true work of art.

Again, we knew of Deadmau5’ latest addition, and there’s not much we haven’t already heard of. Finished in Azure Blue, the hypercar comes with full carbon fiber option parts, stealth exhaust pipe, and deck lid. The interior also comes with the regular high-end features that include a full Alcantara finish with contrasting white leather seats.

It might sound like complete madness, but we know that the electronic music DJ is quite interested in getting a Lamborghini Huracan too, an exotic sportscar that will sit perfectly next to his Ferrari 458 Italia. Speaking of the last makes us return to the Gumball 3000 subject. You see, this beauty was the same car Deadmau5 won the Spirit of Gumball award last year with. It makes us assume he’ll attend the event this year too.

Set to kick off in Stockholm and pass through Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Reno, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and end in Las Vegas, it's scheduled for 23-30 May. In other words, there’s plenty time for the DJ to find a proper wrap for the occasion to take the P1. I guess we’re going to have to wait and see.
