If you are marginally interested in the automotive world, we’re pretty sure the term V8 engine is not something you’re not familiar with. But what of the term V8 battery?
On Thursday, the Pebble Beach event kicked off in Monterey, California, with a host of car and bike builders on site to show off their latest creations. Among them, Curtiss Motorcycles, formerly known as Confederate Motors.

Back in 2017, due to the social turmoil that brought back ugly memories of past ages, the company decided to swap Confederate for Curtiss. It also decided to drop building combustion engined motorcycles in favor of electric ones.

The first such monster of an e-bike is the Zeus, shown by Curtiss at the 10th Annual Quail Motorcycle Gathering. This week, in Monterey, Zeus’ wife, Hera, came to life.

Hera is an electric motorcycle hot rod, as its builder describes it, inspired by the Glenn Curtiss’ 1907 V8 motorcycle, which landed him the title of Fastest Man on Earth (136.3 mph on Ormond Beach, Florida).

And because it is a tribute to a V8 bike, this one too had to have such a component. Enter the V8 battery we mentioned earlier, the world's first according to the company.

There are no official numbers available yet on Hera’s performance or what the battery configured in such a manner can do. Curtiss says only the power from the V8 is fed to an E-Twin motor.

“With Hera, we set out to create the world’s most luxurious motorcycle,” said at Pebble Beach Matt Chambers, Curtiss CEO.

“Featuring the world’s first V8 battery architecture, an ultra-powerful, yet refined, E-Twin motor, and a 66-inch wheelbase, Hera will occupy a class all her own.”

Curtiss plans to take on Harley-Davidson’s newly announced lineup of electric motorcycles, to be kicked off with the launch of the LiveWire of 2019.

Attached in the document below is the limited information currently available on the Hera, as released by Curtiss.
