McLaren’s Idea of Supercar Pornography: MSO Carbon Series LT

If Batman would’ve had better taste in cars, the DC Comics man of courage would’ve bought an MSO Carbon Series LT. Even if Bruce Wayne had better taste in cars, he couldn’t buy this go-faster machine because, hey presto, the production run is sold out.

According to McLaren Automotive, 25 pieces will ever be built and all of them were sold before the first example was made. As any enthusiast would expect from the McLaren Special Operations skunkworks, this baby here is decked out in plenty of carbon fiber.

Based on the already bonkers McLaren 675LT Spider, the Carbon Series LT stays true to the Longtail ethos thanks to its aerodynamically conscious bits and bobs and immense performance. Regarding weight, well, McLaren hasn’t offered any details on that, but 40 percent more carbon fiber components must equal superior power-to-weight ratio.

Just like the McLaren 675LT Spider, the MSO Carbon Series LT gets its groove on from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that develops a not-too-orthodox 666 horsepower (675 PS). 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) and a launch control system make up for exhilarating straight line performance. More to the point, we’re talking about 2.9 seconds to 62 mph (100 km/h) and maximum velocity of 203 miles per hour (326 km/h).

McLaren Automotive informs that the MSO Carbon Series LT will enter production sometime this autumn, with first deliveries expected to be made before year’s end. In the meantime, we’re still waiting for the British automaker to come clean about the yet-to-be-confirmed McLaren 688HS.

In related news about the Woking-based outfit, McLaren will retire the 650S in 2017, a pure electric hypercar is on the way, and the P1 will get a successor in 2023. Oh, and another thing: McLaren will bring a force-fed six-cylinder mill to market in the near future. What? Even Ford switched to six cylinders and turbocharging technology for the second generation of the GT supercar and for the 2017 model year F-150 Raptor pickup.
