The McLaren Speedtail is now among us and with the first example of the hypercar having already been captured real-world style, it seems that the Internet just can't stop thinking about a Spider incarnation of the thing.
So while we brought you a render of a McLaren Speedtail Spider late last month, we are now back with another image of the sort.
Coming from the same pixel wielder, an aficionado named Nicolas Proulx, the render was delivered via Instagram (check out the post below). And this isn't just about removing the roof of the hypercar, but also involves the spec of the thing.
In fact, Nicolas dropped a few thoughts about the relaxed take of this machine: "I call this spec the I don’t feel like breaking any land speed record today,"
In our book, the shade of green seen here suits the Macca perfectly, giving it the kind of look you'd wish to have on a continent cruiser. After all, when a machine with this level of power (more on this below) has three seats, you'd want to use it for long-distance travel and a cozy atmosphere - the digital player also showcases the cabin of the toy.
Now, McLaren hasn't dropped any hint on a Spider version of the Speedtail. Then again, the Brits haven't even released the full specs of their new halo car yet.
So far, we know that the thing packs 1,000 horsepower and uses a hybrid powertrain, while we expect this to be built around the company's twin-turbo V8, probably in its newer 4.0-liter form.
The Speedtrail is light, tipping the scales at 1,430 kilograms (make that 3,153 lbs), which isn't a small feat, considering that the machine sits at 5,137mm in length. Then again, the latter figure is all part of an aerodynamic scheme meant to help the car hit its 403 km/h (250 mph) top speed.
However, there are two arguments fueling rumors about a potential McLaren Speedtail Spider. The first involves the fact that McLaren's open-top models are extremely close to its coupes in terms of performance, with the first substituting the latter in supercar comparisons involving fixed-roof opponents on multiple occasions.
As for the second, this means we have to mention the McLaren 675LT Spider, which came as a surprise, as owners of the 675 Longtail Coupe limited edition didn't expect such an arrival.
Speaking of which, the McLaren Speedtail production is limited to 106 units, so it remains to be seen what happens to this number.
