Even though Canada isn’t the type of place where the weather favor supercar ownership, there’s demand for exotica in this place of the world. Enter McLaren, which just announced that it’s building five limited-edition models based on the 570S Spider for this market.
Canada Commission is how the batch is called, and as you can tell, the Silica White paintwork with exposed carbon fiber finished in red is what sets the special edition apart from the rest of the 570S Spider lineup. There’s even a white maple leaf on the deck, sitting atop the twin-turbo V8 engine and right above the McLaren logo on the rear of the vehicle.

Priced at 353,205 Canadian dollars, the newcomer is available to purchase through three dealerships. McLaren Toronto has three to offer, McLaren Vancouver one, and McLaren Montreal the final example of the breed. Moving on to the interior of the Canada Commission, the red trim takes the visual drama of the mid-engine supercar and cranks it up to eleven.

Black leather Alcantara, white 12-o’clock mark for the steering wheel, and a celebratory plaque are also featured. The MSO treatment continues with the MSO Defined Carbon Fiber trim, Stealth Finish of the 10-spoke Lightweight Forged Wheels, and white maple leafs that replace the 570S script on the door blades. Also included is the Carbon Fiber Exterior Pack, adding visual flavor as well as shaving off a few pounds.

As far as driving dynamics and performance are concerned, the engine develops 570 ponies and 600 Nm of torque, translating to a top speed of 204 miles per hour and an acceleration to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. With the roof down, the car is limited to 196 miles per hour.

Racing-inspired double wishbones are employed on all four corners of the Canada Commission, to which McLaren adds steel springs, twin-valve adaptive dampers and anti-roll bars, as well as an open differential for the rear end. That’s right; the rear-axle setup allows the car to pull off one-wheel burnouts provided that you know what you’re doing in the driver’s seat.
