Ever since McLaren came up with the first of its new-age machines, namely the 720S, we've been expecting to see Nurburgring numbers. Nevertheless, the Woking automaker reply with an even quicker animal, namely the Senna. To date, no official Green Hell numbers have been released for any of the two beasts, but that situation might change.
An example of the Senna has been spotted doing its thing at the Nurburgring this week. As you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, this Senna was caught on camera while receiving tech attention in the garage, as well as while the monster was out on the track.

Despite the newcomer packing 800 horsepower, this number alone doesn't do the British missile justice and that's because the machine packs multiple other goodies designed to help it impress the stopwatch.

Let's take the downforce for example. Bits and pieces like the active front aero blades and the active rear wing help this Macca deliver up to 800 kg of downforce.

And it's no secret that the Senna is expected to set a new production car lap record on the Nordschleife.

The said accolade has been the topic of an effervescent internal battle recently, with two of the Volkswagen Group brands fighting fo it. So while the Lamborghini Huracan Performante grabbed the title from the Porsche 918 Spyder, this lost it to the 911 GT2 RS. Subsequently, the record went into the trophy cabinet of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, where it currently resides. For the record, the said stopwatch number currently sits at 6:44.97.

McLaren isn't the only automaker targeting the record, as, for instance, Koenigsegg might want to resume this quest after its failed 2016 attempt that ended in a crash.

Nevertheless, the Brits seem to have the greatest chances of stealing the Raging Bull's thunder.
