British automotive luxury bodes well with British sportswear luxury, it seems. Naturally, this is the opinion of McLaren and its new partner Castore, a premium sportswear brand. Just like so many other carmakers and fashion outlets before them, the two companies have joined forces for a clothing collection. The twist comes from the source of inspiration, or so they say...
Granted, we are not exactly going to pick on McLaren’s experience with all things automotive, even though it’s been around as a car production company for a tad less than other venerable brands... which actually a lot less car-appeal.

We are not even going to question Castore’s premium British way of doing its sportswear – simply because it’s outside of our area of expertise. But we are going to have a lot to comment if their “first technical male sportswear collection” comes out anything other than perfect.

And it’s going to be McLaren’s own fault for having the bar raised that high. They got us spoiled with close to perfection sports and supercars such as the 620R, 720S, Senna, or the Speedtail. We should have included the Elva in this list as well, but we decided to put it outside just to be able to give it an exclusive shout-out.

This is how McLaren rolls these days, and we’re expecting even more from it as it prepares to present us with its all-new High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) sometime next year. Enough time for the brands to produce even more luxury sportswear, probably.

For now, they have a limited-edition collection inspired by “McLaren’s modern design language and use of lightweight materials to improve performance.” That means these new cotton t-shirts, performance tops and outerwear feature high-tech stuff such as bonded seams, “a sonic welded construction,” or heat-transferring interiors, among others.

There’s also thermo regulation through proprietary Coldblack technology, UVA and UVB protection, and even some laser mapping for getting the most precise design of the “sweat zones” to maximize airflow – which sounds quite akin to achieving great aerodynamics in order to stay dry... even when it’s customary to get a little moist.

As far as we can tell from the dedicated Castore collection page, there are just seven products in the new range, with prices ranging from $94 for a McLaren Recovery Tee to $430 for the Softshell Jacket.
