McLaren's Carbon Fiber S-Works Tarmac Bike Is Painted Next to the P1

The latest product of the collaboration between California-based Specialized and Woking-based supercar producer is the McLaren S-Works Tarmac bike. It comes with a price of a new car and looks like a 650S on two wheels, but what’s the best part about this bicycle is that it's allegedly the fastest complete performance bike in the world.

Building upon that platform, Specialized and McLaren teamed up to raise the bar of complete bicycle performance. According to its creators, utilizing McLaren’s vast carbon fibre expertise, the S-Works McLaren Tarmac frame and fork feature a unique carbon layup schedule that has resulted in a 10% weight savings over the standard S-Works Tarmac.

The Crankset, custom AeroFly handlebars, and CLX40 carbon tubular wheelset all benefit from a new carbon layup that ensure both complete performance and maximum weight savings. And to make this baby look at its best, it wears a custom colorway, co-developed with McLaren and painted in their exclusive McLaren Special Operations Centre in Woking, Surrey, UK, the same place where the astonishing McLaren P1 supercar is painted.

Even though the new bike will cost you $20,000, you’d better get in line, because buying it won’t be that easy. First you have to register interest and reserve a bike at the Specialized website, then you’ll be contacted by the bicycle manufacturer to schedule a Body Geometry fit session, as the bike also comes with a unique McLaren S-Works Prevail helmet and custom-fitted S-Works McLaren shoes. If you want to get more intel about the bike you could check out Bikeradar's video below.

Only 250 McLaren S-Works Tarmac bikes will ever be built and the reservations end on the 31st of July. Pedal power doesn't come easy these days...
