McLaren recently showed off three pictures of their upcoming P1 hypercar, in concept form, set for its debut at the Paris Motor Show. However, courtesy of l’Automobile Magazine, we now have an additional source of information on the P1, in the form of patent drawings.
The drawings reveal slight differences between the concept car and the final version of McLaren’s flagship. First off, you will be able to see the large mechanical rear wing which is very probably active (or it should be in the days of the Pagani Huayra), as well as a longer front splitter, and new air vents located just ahead of the front wheelarches. Otherwise, the production version is identical to the concept - a good thing, we say, as the P1 concept is a stunner!
What’s even more interesting than the alien-esque styling is what will be powering this hypercar. Rumors suggest that it could be the 3.8-liter V8, currently powering the MP4-12C, yet it would be tuned to produce 800 hp, taking the total horsepower number close to 1,000, with the aid of a KERS hybrid system.
