If there’s any road-going car that could show Lighting McQueen a thing or two on the track, the McLaren P1 is that vehicle. And while we haven’t heard any rumor placing the British hypercar on the big screen, we have come across the adjacent image, which shows us what the P1 would look like as a Cars character.
Some of you may remember the trouble the creators of Cars went though when trying to animate the vehicles. They explained that picturing the headlights as eyes, the usual way to go, would result in artificial-looking creatures. Thus, they placed the eyes on the windshield, leaving the mouth on the front fascia.
This is the exact treatment received by our P1. Of course, this is all a virtual job, which doesn’t make it one bit less amusing for us, by the way.
This example of the P1 is dressed in Azure Blue and was hosted in the McLaren Newport Beach showroom for a while, as the owner was out on holiday when the car arrived over from the UK. The creature arrived in the showroom one day after Jay Leno took delivery of his P1. Given the hue of the car, it was only natural the digital Cars work gave the hypercar a pair of blue eyes.
PS: wonder what Sally Carrera thinks of this.
